Margarita Mix

Method

Prepare Glasses

1

Rim the Glasses

Pour the coarse salt onto a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each serving glass, then dip the rim into the salt to coat. Set the glasses aside to dry slightly while you prepare the cocktail.

Make Margarita Mix

2

In a large pitcher, combine 1.5 cups fresh lime juice, 0.25 cups fresh lemon juice, 0.5 cups orange liqueur, 0.25 cups agave nectar, and 2 tablespoons simple syrup (if using). Stir vigorously until the agave and simple syrup are fully dissolved and the mixture is homogenous.

3

Taste the mix and adjust sweetness or acidity: add up to 1 tablespoon more agave or simple syrup if you prefer sweeter, or an additional 1 tablespoon lime juice if you prefer tarter. Mix again after adjustments.

Assemble Cocktails

4

Add the margarita mix to the pitcher containing 2 cups Hornitos Reposado tequila and stir to combine thoroughly. This makes a batch; if making a single cocktail, the ratio is roughly 2 oz tequila : 0.75 oz orange liqueur : 0.75 oz lime juice : 0.25 oz agave.

5

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Pour in 4 oz of the prepared Hornitos margarita mix (approximately one serving). Shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until well chilled. Alternatively, for an on‑the‑rocks serving, fill the salted glass with ice and skip shaking—pour the mixed cocktail over the ice and stir briefly.

6

Strain the shaken cocktail into the prepared salted glass over fresh ice (if desired) or into a chilled coupe if serving neat. Garnish with a lime wheel or slice on the rim and a small lime wedge.

Serving & Storage

7

Serve immediately. The batch margarita mix (without ice) can be stored airtight in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Shake or stir well before serving. Do not store with ice.
