Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the Idaho potatoes. Cut them into uniform fry shapes, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 2
Soak the Fries
Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the dried fries to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Season the Fries
While the fries are still hot, drizzle with malt vinegar and sprinkle with ranch seasoning and salt to taste. Toss to coat evenly.
- 6
Serve
Serve the fries hot in a basket or bowl.
