Tortilla Chips

Homemade Salsa

Method

Tortilla Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tortillas

Cut each corn tortilla into 6 triangular wedges.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.

  3. 3

    Fry the Tortilla Wedges

Carefully add a batch of tortilla wedges to the hot oil. Fry until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.

  4. 4

    Drain and Season

Remove the chips with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt while still hot.

Homemade Salsa

  1. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

Chop the ripe tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño pepper (remove seeds for less heat), and fresh cilantro into small pieces.

  2. 6

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, and lime juice.

  3. 7

    Season the Salsa

Add salt to the salsa mixture. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

  4. 8

    Chill and Serve

Let the salsa sit for at least 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Serve with the tortilla chips.
