Method

Cooking the Fettuccine

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add salt to the boiling water.

  2. 2

    Cook Pasta

Add fettuccine to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Making the Bolognese Sauce

  1. 3

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 4

    Sauté Vegetables

Add diced onion, carrot, and celery to the skillet. Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 5

    Add Garlic

Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

  4. 6

    Cook Meats

Add ground beef, pork, and lamb to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking up the meat as it cooks, about 8-10 minutes.

  5. 7

    Add Wine

Pour in red wine and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the alcohol to evaporate.

  6. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

  7. 9

    Simmer Sauce

Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to develop, stirring occasionally.

Serving

  1. 10

    Combine and Serve

Toss the cooked fettuccine with the Bolognese sauce until well coated. Serve hot, topped with shaved Parmesan cheese.
