Method
Meatball Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- 2
Mix the Meatball Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until well combined.
- 3
Form the Meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 4
Bake the Meatballs
Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.
Marinara Sauce Preparation
- 5
Sauté the Onions and Garlic
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- 6
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and add dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir well to combine.
- 7
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 8
Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Once the meatballs are baked, add them to the simmering marinara sauce. Let them cook together for an additional 5 minutes.
