Method
Salad Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Romaine
Wash the romaine lettuce thoroughly under cold running water. Pat dry with a clean kitchen towel or use a salad spinner to remove excess water. Tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place in a large salad bowl.
- 2
Add Parmesan
Sprinkle the shaved Parmesan cheese over the prepared romaine lettuce.
Crouton Preparation
- 3
Make the Croutons
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the bread slices into cubes. In a large mixing bowl, toss the bread cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, and salt until evenly coated.
- 4
Bake the Croutons
Spread the coated bread cubes out in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, tossing halfway through for even baking. Remove from the oven and let cool.
Dressing Preparation
- 5
Prepare the Caesar Dressing
In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, anchovy paste, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.
Assembling the Salad
- 6
Combine and Serve
Drizzle the prepared Caesar dressing over the romaine and Parmesan in the salad bowl. Toss gently to combine. Add the homemade croutons on top and serve immediately.
