DESSERT

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pecan Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped pecan nuts, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Mix well until the ingredients are evenly distributed.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Prepare the Phyllo Dough

Melt the unsalted butter in a small saucepan. Lay out a sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it lightly with melted butter. Repeat this process with 4 sheets of phyllo, layering them on top of each other.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Konafe

Spread half of the pecan filling evenly over the phyllo layers. Then, layer another 4 sheets of buttered phyllo on top, brushing each sheet with butter. Spread the remaining pecan filling on top.

  5. 5

    Bake the Konafe

Carefully cut the assembled konafe into squares or diamonds using a sharp knife. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crisp.

  6. 6

    Roast the Apples

While the konafe is baking, heat a skillet over medium heat and add the diced apples. Pour in the honey and sauté until the apples are tender and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes. Sprinkle with a dash of cinnamon.

  7. 7

    Serve

Once the konafe is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with a scoop of honey ice cream on top and a generous portion of the roasted apples.
