Classic Happy Hour Platter (serves 4)

Non-alcoholic Sparkling Citrus (pitcher)

Method

Classic Happy Hour Platter (serves 4)

  1. 1

    Prep produce and cheeses

Wash and dry the cherry tomatoes. Cut cheeses into bite-size cubes and arrange on a wooden board or platter in separate clusters so guests can identify varieties.

  2. 2

    Arrange cured meats

Fan the thinly sliced salami or cured meats near the cheeses in loose rolls or folds for easy grabbing.

  3. 3

    Add marinated items and nuts

Place mixed olives and marinated artichoke hearts into small bowls and set them on the platter. Scatter roasted nuts in a small pile or bowl.

  4. 4

    Bread and crackers

Slice the baguette into 12 slices (or arrange crackers). Toast the baguette lightly if desired and place near the cheeses.

  5. 5

    Finishing touches

Drizzle 2 tsp honey over the goat cheese portion (if using) and spoon 2 tsp mustard into a small ramekin. Sprinkle the platter lightly with chopped fresh herbs, 1/4 tsp sea salt, and a pinch of black pepper over the cheese and tomatoes.

Easy Citrus Whiskey Sour (per pitcher for 4)

  1. 6

Make simple syrup (if not ready-made)

Combine equal parts sugar and water (for this recipe 4 fl oz syrup requires about 2 fl oz sugar and 2 fl oz water by volume). Heat gently until sugar dissolves, cool to room temperature, and chill. (If you have pre-made, skip this step.)

  2. 7

    Juice lemons

Juice fresh lemons to obtain 6 fl oz (about 3–4 medium lemons). Strain seeds and pulp if you prefer a smoother cocktail.

  3. 8

    Build the pitcher

In a large pitcher, combine 12 fl oz bourbon, 6 fl oz fresh lemon juice, and 4 fl oz simple syrup. Stir to combine.

  4. 9

    Chill and serve

Fill cocktail shaker or a separate container with ice. Pour 4–6 oz of the mixed cocktail over ice in a shaker and shake 8–10 seconds; this chills and dilutes briefly. Strain into 4 rocks glasses over large ice cubes (one large cube each) or fill glasses with fresh ice. Garnish each with a lemon twist or wheel. Serve immediately.

Non-alcoholic Sparkling Citrus (pitcher)

  1. 10

    Juice fruit

Juice fresh orange(s) to yield about 6 fl oz and juice one lemon to get 1 fl oz. Strain if desired.

  2. 11

    Assemble mocktail

In a pitcher, combine the orange juice, lemon juice and 1 fl oz simple syrup (optional, adjust to taste). Add chilled sparkling water (24 fl oz) and stir gently to preserve carbonation.

  3. 12

    Serve

Pour into 4 glasses filled with ice or over large ice cubes. Garnish with an orange slice each and serve immediately.

Condiments & Finishing Touches

  1. 13

    Set out condiments

Place the honey, mustard, and any extra herbs in small bowls or spoons near the platter for guests to add to their plates.

  2. 14

    Final check

Taste one cheese and the cocktail/mocked drink and adjust salt, pepper or syrup sweetness as desired. Replenish ice and rotate items so everything stays fresh during the 4pm–6pm happy hour window.
