Domestic Bottles & Shots Setup

Method

Domestic Bottles & Shots Setup

  1. 1

    Chill and Prepare

Place the bottled beers in a refrigerator or an ice bucket for at least 30 minutes prior to serving (or until they reach ~38°F / 3°C). Place shot glasses in the freezer or fill them briefly with ice water to chill while preparing the rest.

  2. 2

    Prepare Serving Station

Arrange a small service area with a bottle opener, chilled bottled beers, the chilled shot glasses, and garnishes (lime wedges and a small pinch of salt if offering tequila shots). Set out a small mixing glass or shaker and keep ice nearby for quick chilling.

  3. 3

    Pour Shot Liquor

Measure 1 standard shot (about 44 ml) of the chosen domestic shot liquor into each chilled shot glass. If guests prefer different liquors, label or separate the shot glasses accordingly. Use the small mixing glass with ice to briefly chill any liquor that wasn't pre-chilled (toss out the ice before serving).

  4. 4

    Finalize Beer Service

Open each domestic bottled beer with the bottle opener just before serving to preserve carbonation. Wipe any bottle neck condensation and place bottles on the service tray or bar area. If serving beer with a shot (a 'boilermaker' style), set the shot glass next to or on a coaster beside the opened bottle.

  5. 5

    Garnish and Options

For tequila shots, lightly moisten the back of the hand, dip in salt, and serve with a lime wedge on the side. For whiskey or vodka shots, offer a small splash (10–15 ml) of water on the side for those who prefer to cut the spirit. Mention those options to guests when serving.

  6. 6

    Serving and Safety

Serve each guest one chilled domestic bottle and one chilled shot as ordered. Advise responsible consumption and ensure guests have a safe way home if they consume multiple drinks. Keep extra water and nonalcoholic options available.

  7. 7

    Clean Up

Collect used shot glasses and empty bottles promptly. Rinse shot glasses and place in a dishwasher or wash by hand with warm water. Drain and dry any remaining ice and store garnishes properly for reuse within safe time limits.
