Base Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Coffee
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If using coffee liqueur, stir it into the cooled coffee.
- 2
Mix the Mascarpone and Cream
In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of mascarpone cheese, 1 cup of heavy cream, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture on medium speed until smooth and creamy.
Assembling the Tiramisu
- 3
Dip the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso coffee (and liqueur if using) for about 1-2 seconds. Do not soak them, as they will become too soggy.
- 4
Layer the Ingredients
In a rectangular baking dish, arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- 5
Repeat the Layers
Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers on top of the mascarpone mixture, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
Chilling and Serving
- 6
Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
- 7
Serve the Tiramisu
Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder using a fine mesh sieve. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
