Main Ingredients
Method
Preparation
Soak the Rice
Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Prepare Mango
Peel and slice the fresh mangoes into thin strips. Set aside for serving.
Cooking
Steam the Rice
Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth. Steam for about 25-30 minutes, or until the rice is tender and translucent.
Prepare Coconut Sauce
In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, but do not let it boil.
Mix Rice with Coconut Sauce
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl. Pour about 2/3 of the coconut milk mixture over the warm rice and gently mix to combine. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Serving
Plate the Dish
To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate. Arrange the mango slices on the side or on top of the rice.
Add Coconut Sauce
Drizzle the remaining coconut sauce over the sticky rice and mango. Garnish with sesame seeds or mung beans if desired.
