Making the Gulab Jamun
- 3
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine milk powder, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and cardamom powder. Mix well.
- 4
Add Ghee
Add ghee to the dry mixture and rub it in with your fingers until it resembles breadcrumbs.
- 5
Form the Dough
Gradually add warm milk to the mixture and knead gently to form a soft and smooth dough. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
- 6
Shape the Dumplings
Divide the dough into small portions and roll each portion into a smooth ball. Ensure there are no cracks on the surface.
- 7
Heat Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat oil over low to medium heat. The oil should be hot but not smoking.
- 8
Fry the Dumplings
Gently slide the balls into the hot oil, frying them in batches. Fry until they turn golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
- 9
Soak in Syrup
Once fried, remove the balls and drain excess oil. Immediately soak them in the prepared sugar syrup for at least 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
