Method
Marinating the Chicken

Prepare the Marinade
In a large bowl, combine yogurt, garam masala, lemon juice, salt, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and red chili powder. Mix well.

Marinate the Chicken
Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and add it to the marinade. Ensure all pieces are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
Cooking the Butter Chicken

Cook the Chicken
In a large skillet or pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken pieces and cook until they are browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.

Add Tomato Puree
Stir in the tomato puree and cook for about 5 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.

Combine Chicken with Sauce
Return the cooked chicken to the pan. Add heavy cream, water, kasuri methi, sugar, and salt. Stir well and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes on low heat.

Cook the Rice
Cover the pot and reduce the heat to low. Cook for 15 minutes or until the rice is fluffy and water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for another 5 minutes.
Serving

Plate the Dish
Serve the butter chicken hot over a bed of rice. Garnish with fresh coriander if desired.
