Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring salted water to a rolling boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook Pasta

Add the angel hair pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually around 3-4 minutes until al dente.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water.

Preparing Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté Garlic

In a large skillet, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes

Stir in the diced tomatoes and cook for about 5-7 minutes, allowing them to soften and release their juices.

  3. 6

    Season Sauce

Add salt and black pepper to taste, and continue cooking the sauce for another 2-3 minutes.

  4. 7

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained angel hair pasta to the skillet with the tomato sauce. Toss gently to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to reach desired consistency.

  5. 8

    Finish with Basil

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the chopped fresh basil until evenly distributed.

Serving

  1. 9

    Plate the Dish

Serve the angel hair pomodoro warm, garnished with additional basil if desired.
