Method
Salad Base
Prepare lettuce
Wash and dry the romaine lettuce leaves thoroughly. Chop or tear into bite-sized pieces to total about 6 cups. Place in a large salad bowl.
Add cheese and bacon
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and bacon bits evenly over the salad base.
Pulled Pork Topping
Warm pulled pork
If the pulled pork is refrigerated, heat it gently until warm (internal temperature around 140–160°F / 60–71°C). Reheat in a skillet over medium-low heat for 5–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, or microwave covered in 30-second intervals until warm.
Finish with BBQ sauce
Once warm, stir 3 tablespoons of your chosen BBQ sauce into the pulled pork so it is lightly coated but not soupy. Taste and adjust by adding up to 1 additional tablespoon if you prefer stronger BBQ flavor.
Top the salad
Arrange the warm, sauced pulled pork evenly over the salad base so the heat slightly wilts the lettuce for extra flavor.
Dressing & Garnish
Dress the salad
Right before serving, drizzle 1/4 cup (or desired amount) of your chosen dressing evenly over the salad. Toss gently with tongs or salad servers to combine the dressing with the lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, bacon bits, and pulled pork.
Season and garnish
Sprinkle freshly ground black pepper to taste and 1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley over the top. Serve with a lime wedge on the side for squeezing if you want a bright acidic pop.
