Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg yolk and mix until combined. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt, then gradually add to the butter mixture. Mix until a dough forms. If too dry, add cold water one tablespoon at a time until the dough holds together.

Chill the Dough
Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Roll Out the Dough
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to fit a 9-inch tart pan. Press the dough into the pan and trim any excess.

Bake the Crust
Prick the bottom of the tart crust with a fork to prevent bubbling. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let it cool completely before filling.
