Chocolate Fondant

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F). Grease 4 ramekins with butter and dust with flour.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) or in the microwave in short bursts, stirring until smooth.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, add vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, and gently fold in until well combined.

  5. 5

    Add Flour

Sift the all-purpose flour over the chocolate mixture and fold it in gently until just combined.

  6. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-14 minutes, until the edges are set but the center is still soft.

  8. 8

    Serve

Let the fondants sit for 1 minute, then run a knife around the edges and invert them onto plates. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
