Prepare the Burger Patty

Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.

Form Patties
Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

Slice the California tomato into thick slices.

Melt the Cheese
In the last minute of cooking the patties, place a slice of fresh mozzarella on each patty and cover the pan to melt the cheese.

Once cooked, place the cheese-covered patties on a bun or serve on a plate. Top each patty with tomato slices and fresh basil leaves.

Toast the Garlic Bread
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and place the baguette halves on a baking sheet. Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until golden and toasted.
