Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Muddle the Sugar

Place the sugar cube in an Old Fashioned glass. Add 1 teaspoon of water and 2 dashes of aromatic bitters on top of the sugar.

  2. 2

    Dissolve the Sugar

Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press and twist to dissolve the sugar in the bitters and water, creating a syrup at the bottom of the glass.

  3. 3

    Add Bourbon

Pour 2 oz of bourbon over the muddled sugar mixture in the glass.

  4. 4

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with a large ice cube or several smaller cubes, allowing them to chill the drink without diluting it too quickly.

  5. 5

    Stir

Stir the mixture gently for about 15-20 seconds to combine the ingredients and chill the drink.

  6. 6

    Garnish

Express the oils from a piece of orange peel over the drink by holding it over the glass and giving it a twist. Then, drop the peel into the drink as a garnish.
