Shrimp Preparation

Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Shrimp

In a large bowl, combine the peeled and deveined shrimp with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Toss well to ensure each shrimp is evenly coated with the seasoning. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Breading

  1. 2

    Prepare the Breading Station

In one shallow dish, place the all-purpose flour. In a second shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined. In a third shallow dish, place the panko breadcrumbs.

  2. 3

    Bread the Shrimp

Take each seasoned shrimp, first coat it in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the shrimp in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to ensure the crumbs adhere. Repeat this process for all shrimp.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread into it; if it sizzles and turns golden brown, the oil is ready.

  2. 5

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully place the breaded shrimp in the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the shrimp and drain on paper towels.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate and Garnish

Arrange the fried shrimp on a serving platter. Garnish with lemon wedges and sprinkle fresh chopped parsley over the top for added color and flavor. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
