Chicken Marinade

Belgian Waffles

Honey Butter

Maple Syrup

Method

Chicken Marinade

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, combine buttermilk, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Add the chicken breasts, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight.

Fried Chicken Breading

  1. 2

    Prepare the Breading

In a shallow dish, mix together flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and a pinch of salt. Remove marinated chicken from the fridge, allowing excess marinade to drip off, and dredge each piece in the flour mixture until fully coated.

  2. 3

    Fry the Chicken

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded chicken breasts. Fry for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F/75°C). Remove and drain on paper towels.

Belgian Waffles

  1. 4

    Make the Waffle Batter

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, beat the eggs and then mix in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined; do not overmix.

  2. 5

    Cook the Waffles

Preheat a Belgian waffle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Pour the appropriate amount of batter into the waffle maker and cook until golden brown and crisp. Remove and keep warm while cooking the remaining waffles.

Honey Butter

  1. 6

    Prepare the Honey Butter

In a bowl, beat together the softened unsalted butter, honey, and a pinch of salt until well combined and fluffy. Set aside for serving.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Assemble the Dish

On a plate, place a hot Belgian waffle, top it with a piece of fried chicken, a dollop of honey butter, and drizzle with maple syrup. Serve immediately.
