Preparation Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Mixture
In a large bowl, combine the crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, and chopped green onions. Mix gently to avoid breaking the crab meat.
- 2
Add Bindings
Fold in the bread crumbs and the beaten egg. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. The mixture should be moist but hold together; adjust with more bread crumbs if necessary.
- 3
Form the Cakes
Using your hands, form the mixture into patties, about 3 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet.
- 4
Chill the Patties
Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This helps the crab cakes to hold their shape while cooking.
- 5
Cook the Crab Cakes
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the crab cakes in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Serve
Remove the crab cakes from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
