Coffee Base
Brew coffee
Brew 2 cups of strong coffee using your preferred method (drip, French press, or pour-over). Use slightly more coffee grounds than usual for a bolder flavor (about 1.5 times your normal ratio).
If the brewed coffee is too strong for your taste, add up to 1/2 cup hot water to dilute to desired strength. Keep the coffee hot.
Milk & Cream
In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine 1/2 cup whole milk and 2 tbs heavy cream. Warm until steaming but not boiling (about 2–3 minutes), stirring once or twice to prevent a skin from forming.
Optional: For a frothy top, whisk vigorously by hand for 30 seconds or use a milk frother for 10–15 seconds until light foam forms.
Sweeteners & Flavor
Stir 1 tsp granulated sugar and 1/4 tsp vanilla extract into the hot coffee until fully dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetener if desired.
Add 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon to the milk (or directly into the coffee) and stir to combine, if using. This adds a warm spice note.
Assembly & Serve
Divide the prepared coffee into two warmed cups (about 1 cup per serving).
Pour warmed milk and cream mixture over the coffee, holding back foam with a spoon. Spoon the foam on top.
Lightly dust each cup with a pinch of cocoa powder or cinnamon. Garnish with a single coffee bean if desired.
Serve immediately while hot.
