Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Thoroughly rinse the shrimp and clams under cold water. Peel and devein the shrimp if not already done. Cut the kielbasa into 1-inch slices. Wash the potatoes and cut them into quarters. Husk the corn and cut each ear into halves.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Make the Broth

In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a boil. Add 3 tablespoons of Old Bay seasoning, 4 crushed garlic cloves, and 2 bay leaves. Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon into the pot and add the lemon halves. Stir well and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.

  2. 3

    Cook the Potatoes

Add the quartered potatoes to the boiling broth and cook for about 10-12 minutes, or until they are tender but firm.

  3. 4

    Add Corn and Kielbasa

Once the potatoes are nearly done, add the corn pieces and sliced kielbasa to the pot. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.

  4. 5

    Add Seafood

Finally, add the shrimp and clams to the pot. Cover and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and the clams have opened. Discard any clams that do not open.

  5. 6

    Finish and Serve

Remove the pot from heat and stir in 1/2 cup of chopped fresh parsley. Serve the seafood boil hot, directly from the pot, or transfer to a large serving platter.
