Preparation

Prepare the Glass
Chill a cocktail glass by filling it with ice water and setting it aside.

Mix the Cocktail
In a mixing glass filled with ice, combine the bourbon, amaro nonino, demerara sugar, and orange bitters.

Stir
Stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled and the sugar is dissolved.
Serving

Prepare the Glass
Discard the ice water from the chilled cocktail glass.

Add Absinthe
Pour the absinthe into the glass and swirl it around to coat the inside, then discard the excess.

Strain the Cocktail
Strain the chilled mixture from the mixing glass into the prepared cocktail glass.

Garnish
Express the oils from an orange twist over the cocktail and drop it in as a garnish.
