Method

Cake Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and prepare an 8-inch round cake pan by greasing it with butter and lining the bottom with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Heat over low heat, stirring constantly until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, add the granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt to the melted chocolate mixture. Stir to combine.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time to the chocolate mixture, stirring well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cake

Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, gently remove it from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack.

Whipped Cream Directions

  1. 7

    Prepare the Whipped Cream

In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.

  2. 8

    Whip the Cream

Using an electric mixer, whip the cream on medium-high speed until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip, as it can turn into butter.

  3. 9

    Serve

Once the cake is completely cooled, slice it and serve with a generous dollop of whipped cream on top.
