Cured Meats

House-made Pickles

Serving Accompaniments

Method

Preparation of Cured Meats

  1. 1

    Arrange Cured Meats

Select a variety of cured meats including prosciutto, salami, chorizo, and capicola. Arrange them on a large wooden board or platter in an aesthetically pleasing manner, folding or rolling the slices for visual appeal.

House-made Pickles

  1. 2

    Prepare Pickling Liquid

In a medium saucepan, combine white vinegar, water, sugar, and salt. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar and salt are dissolved.

  2. 3

    Prepare Cucumbers

While the pickling liquid is heating, wash and slice the cucumbers into thin rounds or spears, depending on your preference.

  3. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Once the pickling liquid is ready, remove it from the heat and add the sliced cucumbers, garlic cloves, dill, and black peppercorns to the saucepan. Stir to combine.

  4. 5

    Pickling Process

Transfer the mixture to a clean jar or container and allow it to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, cover and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving to allow the flavors to develop.

Serving the Charcuterie Board

  1. 6

    Add Accompaniments

In addition to the cured meats, add olives, a selection of cheeses, crackers, and fresh fruit to the board. Arrange them around the meats and pickles for a colorful and inviting presentation.

  2. 7

    Final Touches

Garnish the board with fresh herbs if desired, and serve with small plates and utensils for guests to enjoy.
