Bannock Ingredients

Method

Bannock Directions

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

3

Add Butter

Cut the butter into small pieces and add it to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix it until it resembles coarse crumbs.

4

Combine with Milk

Gradually add the milk to the mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.

5

Shape the Dough

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 1-2 minutes. Shape it into a round loaf or flatten it into a disc about 1 inch thick.

6

Bake

Place the shaped dough on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

7

Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with rotating house-made jam.
