Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer or fill with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

2

Muddle lychees

In a cocktail shaker, add the 2 drained lychees and the simple syrup (or lychee syrup). Lightly muddle until the fruit is broken down and releases juices but not pulverized—about 6–8 gentle presses.

3

Combine spirits and citrus

Add the chilled sake, lychee liqueur (or additional lychee syrup if you used syrup instead of liqueur), vodka (if using), and fresh lime juice to the shaker with the muddled lychees.

4

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup), secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds. The goal is to chill and slightly dilute the sake and integrate the lychee purée.

5

Fine strain

Discard ice or water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove lychee solids and ice shards for a smooth texture.

Garnish & Serve

6

Thread the halved lychee onto a small cocktail pick and rest it on the rim of the glass. Add a fresh mint sprig and a lime wheel on the rim or floated on the surface for aroma.

7

Serve immediately while cold. Optionally, provide a small spoon for anyone who wants to scoop any remaining lychee purée from the bottom of the glass.
