In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Place the saucepan over medium heat. Warm the mixture gently, making sure it doesn't boil. Stir occasionally, allowing the flavors to meld.
