Cocktail Preparation
- 1
Chill glass
Place a rocks glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.
- 2
Add 2 oz JED Purveyors (or your chosen rye/bourbon), 0.5 oz Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup into a mixing glass or shaker.
- 3
Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters and 0.5 oz cherry juice (Luxardo jar syrup or high-quality cherry juice) to the mixing glass. The cherry juice adds color, sweetness, and cherry depth that pairs with the Luxardo liqueur.
- 4
Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted (if you prefer a slightly more diluted drink, stir up to 40 seconds). Stirring keeps the drink smooth and clear.
- 5
Discard the ice/water from the chilled rocks glass and place 2–3 large ice cubes into the glass.
- 6
Strain the stirred cocktail over the large ice cubes into the chilled rocks glass.
- 7
Garnish with 1 Luxardo cherry (skewer it on a pick or drop it into the glass). Express a lemon twist over the surface (optional) and drop it in or discard according to preference.
- 8
Serve immediately. For an extra aromatic touch, add one additional light dash of Angostura bitters on top of the finished drink.
