Cocktail Base

Method

Cocktail Base

  1. 1

    Prepare and shake

Add gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon juice, fresh lime juice and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with ice cubes (about 6 cubes).

  2. 2

Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the shaker is well-chilled (exterior becomes frosty).

  3. 3

Double-strain the mixture into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass (or a large champagne flute) to remove ice shards and any pulp.

Top & Garnish

  1. 4

Carefully top the shaken cocktail with 2 oz chilled Prosecco. Pour gently over the back of a bar spoon if you want a gentle layer and delicate effervescence.

  2. 5

Express a lemon twist over the drink to release oils, then drop the twist into the glass. If using an edible flower or mint sprig, float it lightly on top for aroma and presentation.

  3. 6

Serve immediately while the Prosecco is lively.
