- 1
Muddle
In a shaker or mixing glass, add the berry jam, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and 6 of the mint leaves. Using a sturdy muddler, gently muddle the mint with the jam and citrus just until the leaves release their aroma — avoid over-muddling which can make the drink bitter. Aim to dissolve and combine the jam into the citrus and syrup.

Build
Add the bourbon to the shaker. Add a large handful of crushed ice (about 3/4 of the shaker volume). Optional: add 1 dash of Angostura bitters for complexity.
- 3
Shake & Strain
Cap the shaker and shake vigorously for about 10–12 seconds to chill and dilute. Double-strain (use a Hawthorne or julep strainer and a fine mesh strainer) into a rocks or double old fashioned glass filled with fresh crushed ice to remove mint solids and jam seeds (if present).

Finish & Garnish
Gently slap the remaining 2 mint leaves between your palms to wake the oils and tuck them into the top of the drink along with a lemon wheel or twisted peel. Optionally brush the lemon peel over the glass rim before placement. Serve with a short stirring straw so the drink can be gently stirred as it melts.
