Preparing the Marinara Sauce

Add Tomatoes and Season
Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and bring to a simmer.

Finish the Sauce
Let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes. Stir in the fresh basil at the end. Set aside.
Preparing the Lemon Herb Aioli

Mix the Aioli
In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, lemon juice, chopped parsley, garlic powder, and salt. Mix until well combined. Adjust salt to taste. Set aside.
Frying the Calamari

Prepare the Breading
In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.

Coat the Calamari
Dredge each calamari strip in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated.

Heat the Oil
In a deep pan or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 180°C (350°F).

Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the breaded calamari strips in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Once fried, sprinkle the calamari with capers.
