Flavoring Ingredients
Preparation of Base
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the neutral grain spirit and water. Stir gently to mix the two liquids thoroughly.
Infusing Flavors
2. Add Flavoring Ingredients
Add the star anise, fennel seeds, sugar, and coffee beans to the spirit mixture. If using a vanilla bean, split it lengthwise and scrape the seeds into the mixture, then add the pod as well.
3. Mixing and Marinating
Stir the mixture gently to dissolve the sugar. Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for 1 to 2 weeks. Shake the mixture gently every few days to help the flavors meld.
Straining and Bottling
4. Strain the Mixture
After 1 to 2 weeks, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean glass bottle. Discard the solids.
5. Bottling
Seal the bottle tightly. Your homemade sambuca is now ready to enjoy. Store it in a cool, dark place.
