Preparation of Crostino

Preheat and Slice
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Slice the baguette into 1-inch thick slices.

Brush with Olive Oil
Brush each slice of baguette with olive oil on both sides and place them on a baking sheet.

Toast the Bread
Toast the bread in the oven for about 10 minutes or until golden and crispy.
Prepare Cheese Fondue

Make Cheese Fondue
In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream and grated Pecorino Romano cheese over low heat. Stir continuously until the cheese melts and the mixture is smooth.

Add Pepper
Add freshly cracked black pepper and mixed peppercorns to the cheese mixture, stirring well.
Assembly

Cool the Bread
Remove the toasted bread from the oven and let it cool slightly.

Add Fondue
Spoon the cheese fondue over each slice of toasted baguette.

Add Toppings
Top with diced apple and chopped walnuts. Season with salt to taste.
