Prep
Chill a highball or Collins glass by filling it with ice and water, or place it in the freezer for a few minutes. Prepare fresh lime and measure ingredients.

Build and shake
Add 2 oz Ketel One vodka, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup to a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with about 6 pieces of ice. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold to the touch and slightly frosted.

Prepare glass
Discard the ice/water from the chilled glass if you used it to chill. Fill the glass with fresh ice (optional: large cube).

Strain and top
Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass over fresh ice. Top with approximately 2 oz of cold club soda, gently stir once or twice with a bar spoon to integrate. Adjust club soda to taste if you prefer more or less fizz.

Garnish and serve
Garnish with a lime wheel or a lime twist on the rim. Serve immediately with a straw if desired.
