Fill a mixing glass or cocktail shaker halfway with ice (about 1 cup).

Pour 2 oz Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey, 0.25 oz simple syrup, 0.25 oz fresh lemon juice, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into the mixing glass.

Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture briskly for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted (the glass should feel cold).
