For the Fried Mozzarella Triangles

Method

For the Fried Mozzarella Triangles

1

Prepare the Cheese

Cut the mozzarella cheese into triangles, approximately 1/2 inch thick. Set aside.

2

Set Up Breading Station

In three separate bowls, place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs. Season the flour with salt and black pepper.

3

Bread the Cheese

Dip each mozzarella triangle in the flour, shaking off excess. Then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Ensure each piece is fully covered.

4

Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

5

Fry the Mozzarella

Carefully add the breaded mozzarella triangles to the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

For the Marinara Sauce

6

Sauté Garlic

In a saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

7

Add Tomatoes and Season

Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Stir to combine.

8

Simmer Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

9

Finish with Basil

Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving. Remove from heat.
