Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bolognese Sauce

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery, and sauté until they are tender, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 2

    Cook the Beef

Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.

  3. 3

    Add Tomatoes and Wine

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 4

    Cook the Rigatoni

While the sauce is simmering, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the rigatoni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and reserve some pasta water.

  5. 5

    Combine Pasta with Sauce

Add the cooked rigatoni to the Bolognese sauce, tossing to coat the pasta evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.

  6. 6

    Serve

Plate the rigatoni, sprinkle with grated Grana Padano cheese, and garnish with fresh basil. Serve immediately.
