Preparation

Preparation Steps

1. Prepare Sushi Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions. Once cooked, transfer to a large bowl.

2. Season the Rice

In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Pour the mixture over the warm sushi rice and gently fold to combine. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.

3. Prepare the Salmon

Slice the Atlantic salmon into long, thin strips, approximately 1 cm thick.

4. Assemble the Sushi

Place a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat, shiny side down. Wet your hands to prevent sticking and grab a handful of sushi rice. Spread the rice evenly over the nori, leaving about 1 inch at the top edge.

5. Add Salmon

Lay several strips of salmon horizontally across the center of the rice. Optionally, add wasabi for extra flavor.

6. Roll the Sushi

Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll the sushi away from you, applying gentle pressure to keep it tight. Seal the edge of the nori with a little water.

7. Cut the Roll

Using a sharp knife, slice the roll into 6-8 pieces. Wipe the knife with a damp cloth between cuts to ensure clean slices.

8. Serve

Serve the Sake Maki with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and additional wasabi on the side.
