Pizza Puff Ingredients

Method

Directions for Pizza Puffs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness. Cut the dough into small squares or circles. Place a small amount of mozzarella cheese and a piece of pepperoni in the center of each square.

  3. 3

    Seal the Puffs

Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal. Ensure they are tightly sealed to prevent leakage during frying.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Puffs

Carefully drop the sealed puffs into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Season and Serve

In a bowl, mix Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper flakes. Toss the fried pizza puffs in the spice blend while they are still hot. Serve with pizza sauce and nacho cheese on the side.
