Hummus Base

Method

Making the Hummus

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chickpeas

Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas under cold water to remove excess sodium. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Blend the Ingredients

In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, fresh lemon juice, garlic cloves, and fresh basil leaves. Blend until smooth.

  3. 3

    Add Olive Oil and Seasoning

While blending, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until fully incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If the hummus is too thick, add a teaspoon of water at a time until desired consistency is reached.

Assembling the Dish

  1. 4

    Prepare the Toppings

Chop the cucumbers and roughly chop the kalamata olives if desired.

  2. 5

    Plate the Hummus

Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and create a small well in the center.

  3. 6

    Add Toppings

Drizzle the garlic hot honey over the hummus, then top with chopped kalamata olives, crumbled feta, and a spoonful of roasted red pepper-tomato relish.

  4. 7

    Serve

Arrange the grilled naan around the bowl of hummus for dipping. Serve immediately.
