Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients: marble rye bread, Swiss cheese, corned beef, sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing, and unsalted butter.

Assembly

  1. 2

    Assemble the Sandwich

Take two slices of marble rye bread. Spread 2 tablespoons of Thousand Island dressing on one side of each slice.

  2. 3

    Layer the Ingredients

On one slice of bread (dressing side up), layer 4 ounces of corned beef, followed by 1 cup of drained sauerkraut, and then 4 slices of Swiss cheese.

  3. 4

    Complete the Sandwich

Top with the second slice of bread, dressing side down.

Grilling

  1. 5

    Butter the Bread

Spread 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter on the top of the sandwich.

  2. 6

    Grill the Sandwich

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich butter side down in the skillet. Grill for about 4-5 minutes or until the bread is golden brown.

  3. 7

    Flip and Grill

Spread the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter on the top of the sandwich. Carefully flip the sandwich and grill the other side for another 4-5 minutes until golden brown and the cheese has melted.

Serving

  1. 8

    Slice and Serve

Remove the sandwich from the skillet, let it cool for a minute, then slice in half. Serve warm.
