Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Burger

In a large bowl, combine ground pork, ground beef, and brisket. Season with salt and black pepper. Mix well and form into 4 burger patties, each about 7oz.

  2. 2

    Cook the Onions

In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add sweet onions and sauté until they are soft and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Burgers

In the same skillet, add the remaining butter. Increase the heat to medium-high and cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each burger to melt.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Melt

Toast the rye bread slices in the same skillet until golden brown. Spread 1000 island dressing on two slices of the toasted rye. Place the cooked burger patties on top, followed by the sautéed onions. Top with the remaining slices of rye bread.

  5. 5

    Serve

Cut the sandwiches in half and serve hot with additional 1000 island dressing on the side, if desired.
