Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filling

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until translucent.

  2. 2

    Brown the Beef

Add the Angus beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Vegetables and Seasoning

Stir in the diced carrots and frozen peas. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt, black pepper, and dried thyme. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.

  4. 4

    Make the Mashed Potatoes

While the beef mixture is simmering, boil the diced potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and return to the pot. Add butter and milk, mashing until smooth.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Pie

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). In a baking dish, layer the beef mixture on the bottom, spreading it evenly. Top with the mashed potatoes, smoothing them out with a spatula. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden brown.

  7. 7

    Serve

Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your Cottage Pie!
