Method
Baklava Directions
- 1
Prepare the Nut Mixture
In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped walnuts, chopped pistachios, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon. Mix well and set aside.
- 2
Prepare the Phyllo Dough
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Melt the unsalted butter in a small saucepan. Lay out the phyllo dough and cover it with a damp cloth to prevent it from drying out.
- 3
Layer the Phyllo and Nut Mixture
Brush a 9x13 inch baking dish with melted butter. Place the first layer of phyllo dough in the dish and brush it with butter. Repeat this process with about 8 layers of phyllo, brushing each layer with butter. Evenly sprinkle a layer of the nut mixture over the phyllo. Repeat the layering process until all the nuts are used, finishing with about 8 layers of phyllo dough on top.
- 4
Bake the Baklava
Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown.

- 6
Soak the Baklava
Once the baklava is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the hot syrup over it. Allow it to soak for at least 2 hours before serving.
