Method
Prepare the Turkey Salad
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded turkey breast, mayonnaise, chopped celery, red onion, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Stir until all ingredients are well mixed.
- 2
Chill the Salad
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Assemble the Sandwich
- 3
Butter the Bread
Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of white bread.
- 4
Toast the Bread
In a skillet over medium heat, place the buttered side of the bread down and toast until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and toast the other side.
- 5
Build the Sandwich
On the unbuttered side of four slices of toasted bread, layer lettuce leaves followed by a generous scoop of the turkey salad. Top with another slice of toasted bread, buttered side up.
- 6
Serve
Cut the sandwiches in half and serve with a side of potato chips and sliced pickles.
