Cake Preparation

Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a medium saucepan, melt the unsweetened chocolate and unsalted butter over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and egg yolks until pale and thick.

Combine Mixtures
Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture while whisking continuously. Add the vanilla extract and stir to combine.

Add Dry Ingredients
Sift in the all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt, and gently fold together until just combined. Do not overmix.

Fill Ramekins
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

Bake
Place the ramekins in the preheated oven and bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

Cool Slightly
Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for about 1 minute.

Invert and Serve
Carefully run a knife around the edges of each cake, then invert onto a plate. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with chocolate sauce if desired.
