Fish and Chips Ingredients

Method

Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tartar Sauce

In a bowl, mix together mayonnaise, finely chopped dill pickles, lemon juice, and capers (if using). Stir well and set aside in the refrigerator.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Fries

Peel the potatoes and cut them into thick strips. Rinse in cold water and pat dry with a towel.

  3. 3

    Fry the Potatoes

Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potato strips in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.

  4. 4

    Make the Beer Batter

In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, pepper, and beer until smooth.

  5. 5

    Fry the Cod

Dip each cod fillet into the beer batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place in the hot oil and fry for about 4-6 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the golden beer-battered cod with the crispy fries and tartar sauce on the side.
